Villas Dhyana, Prana & Asana

Location
Living room in Villa Prana - Sunken seating was created to eliminate the need for new wood to make massive couches. The earth which was removed for the seating area was then used to fill up the concrete finished beds & side tables, hence further reducing the use of new wood for beds.

The idea was to blend in, so i drew a lot of the design inspiration from the hill instead of trying to stand out. That is Yellodu hill in the back. Roof of the sit out is held up on one side by 2 old pillars from Karaikudi and on the other side by a rock that was found near by.

From Sujay Reddy

After 10 long years of building high end apartment blocks in the city, my love for the outdoors and design could no longer be contained in me. The desire to build homes in nature, using locally sourced materials, antique doors, upcycled furniture and less raw materials was something I needed to do!
I searched the country and used all my contacts to source antique & sustainably sourced pieces from cities such as karaikudi, Goa & Auroville after which we painstakingly revived them on site.

Sustainability:
Flooring - An acrylic powder with dye was used in the concrete flooring, instead of typical granite, marble or vitrified wood which would required more raw materials, fuel and chemicals.

Walls - Customized undulated plastering that requires 40% less cement, sand and water was used.

Doors - All doors have been re-used from antique yards.

Sunken seating - Aside from the aesthetics, we didn't use any new wood for couches.

Beds and side tables - A small % of the cement we saved from the flooring and plastering was used to build the beds & side tables.

Kitchens - Brand new, because it just made more sense :)

Please note that i have also sent you an email from sujayreddy4@gmail.com with a link to a googledrive folder which has over 50 pictures.
