The new owners of this 1950’s ranch house required upgrades for wheelchair accessibility. Although a single story, the home had narrow doors and halls, tight corners and no accessible access from the exterior.
Kate Cowing Architect, LLC designed upgrades including a new accessible entrance directly from the garage, a ramp to the existing exterior door, widening the door openings and widening and straightening the hall. Every room was made accessible. By using the principles of universal design, Kate Cowing Architect LLC created a home that is equally comfortable for both wheelchair users and the physical able.
