Twice as Much

Monochrome duplex appt. TLV 2016
This appt. was actually designed twice. The first time it was built and designed by Do-architects for a couple in 2006. It was sold in 2016 and was completely redone according to the new owners needs and likes. The appt. is spread on two levels: “night” & “day”.

NIGHT

The lower level consists of 2 en-suites, Family room and Master bedroom. It is divided by a linear hanging staircase separating two areas: the eastern side: two en-suites intended for guests, and the western side: master bedroom overlooking a beautiful parc. The design is minimal and warm using textures rather than colors to enrich the space.

DAY

The higher level consists of two wings: the eastern wing includes a family room, kitchen, dining, study and guest toilet. The western wing consists of the living room and main panoramic balcony. The whole floor is surrounded by a linear roof balcony, enabling opening glass doors all around. This gives the apartment a feeling of openness and grandeur. The vegetation around is Mediterranean herbs, trees and flowers adding seasonal changes and color. The garden and the art are the only features to add color to the spaces, emphasizing the indoor-outdoor feel. The materials chosen are all natural and warm materials: monochromatic stone, wood and textiles are spread throughout the house to balance the glass envelope around.
