An American global businessman and philanthropist with a keen eye for art collection and a desire for deep color palettes sought out the experts to design the interiors of a 6,000-square-foot new development penthouse in Great Jones Alley.
Nestled on a private, gated drive on iconic Great Jones Street, the street is known for its inherent exclusivity and rich urban history. A team of only the best were cut out for the job of creating a truly extraordinary home.
As home to a proper art enthusiast, the owner brought in Sofia Joelsson, a Miami-based interior designer and art curator Lisa Austin to bring his vision to life in the 4-bedroom 5-bathroom residence. Together, the owner, Joelsson and Austin travelled the world to handpick each piece for the home to complement the Zen-inspired finishes. Returning back to New York, the team had selected a lengthy list of paintings, drawings and sculptures to complete the penthouse.
Artistic highlights of the residence include the site-specific light installation, Fly Light, designed by Studio Drift from Carpenters Workshop Gallery that resembles and moves like a flock of birds, an art simulation on an LED panel by John Gerrard, a digital media installation by Petra Cortright and much more.
Along with the world-class art collection, Joelsson selected furnishings of the highest-quality brands and products, much of which were custom made, including bronze bookshelves from Henge, a cow hide rug by Kyle Bunting and a coffee table with book-match marble slab. Moreover, the designer opted for custom closets by Ornare, a Brazilian producer of luxury closets, kitchens and bathrooms, to create a grand oasis-like master closet. In addition, the home contains an Arclinea kitchen, Minotti pieces and various more.
