From a Utility Trailer to a 153 Square feet home, this tiny house project is a fantastic example of teamwork used to make living a lot better. The Walden was created with sustainability in mind. The project was conducted and managed by Rancho Cotate High School teacher, Cole Smith and with the help of numerous students created hour by hour a fantastic home with an affordable price. The project started in the beginning of November of 2017 and is set to finish by June 1st, 2018. The home was mainly made to teach the students the physical hands-on work of constructing such types of spaces with the little space it can contain. In the end, this home is equip with Solar Panel Arrays, flexible furniture, a composting toilet and much more. This tiny home has all the things any regular home holds but with a more cozy feel to it with a modern cabin look. These Rancho students took a great challenge that not a lot of high school's take when it comes to construction. By the end of this project, the home is set to be sold to a couple that lives locally, and will live in it for a "good amount of time.".It goes to show the creativity of young students can be channeled into very constructive ways, thus the Walden will become the stepping stones to many of these students careers.
