Children's Intellectual Development Center

In the south of Fethiye in Turkey, there are ruins that turned into an abandoned village after the political event and earthquake, and today it is an open museum. The building is the girls' school in Kayakoy, which has been less damaged and also compatible with our intended use. Creating flexible spaces also allows for other uses too.Due to the height, the design is on2 floors and access to building due to the slope is from first floor and 2 sides(easy access for visitors). The basement (multipurpose hall, classroom, office and toilets) and the first floor (gallery and cafe). The spaces are arranged in two cubic volumes inside the main building with a separate concrete structure and brick walls. The new structure is arranged at a distance from main walls and only connect at limited points for stability. To prevent damage, internal flooring is made of glass and wood adjacent to the soil with a substructure and distance from the main floor. The gallery roof and terrace are spaces for observing the site, parents and visitors. The main materials in Kayakoy are stone and wood, which is why the main roof and terrace structure are made of wooden beams. The terrace on the south and east sides facing the ruins of the entire site is designed with a wooden structure and flooring. In accordance with Kayakoy windows and temperature control, wooden windows with shutters are planned. The roof is double-sloped,like Kayakoy,is made of clay, and one side is uncoated to direct light, air, and natural views into the building.
