From Best Practice

A Seattle couple was thrilled to find a single-story, mid-century home one block from Lake Washington. They were less thrilled to find that the interior rooms were small and closed off and that the unfinished basement was underutilized as storage and laundry space. With hopes of injecting new life into the home, the owners reached out to Best Practice Architecture to complete their vision.

The Best Practice team opened the main floor of the house to create a modern great room with a gourmet kitchen, dining room, and comfortable living area. An accordion door leads onto a generous deck that overlooks the backyard, with stairs to a lower patio and covered turf workout zone. A new library and office space, primary bedroom, and updated bathroom finish off the main floor renovation.

Revamped stairs lead to the lower level where the design team transformed the underutilized basement into a functional family room with direct connections to the backyard. Built-in storage and kitty cabin, a wet bar, two bedrooms, and an emerald green guest bath complete Best Practice’s work.
