From Menino Carmichael Design Studio

The crown jewel of the Artists' Historic District nestled between Central Park West and Lincoln Center, The Atelier personifies Gothic Style and served as the home and working studios to such world-renowned artists as Dadaist Marcel Duchamp and Surrealist Salvador Dali.

While serving as the New York City pied-a-terre for our West Coast dwelling client, we sought to retain the Pre-War essence permeating throughout and meticulously infuse it with Modern Luxuries.

Boldly swapping the alcove sleeping area and the food preparation room, we maximized the space to develop a Great Room - one that houses the Living Space and Dining Area adjacent to an open, professionally-appointed Kitchen and ultimately creating a true One Bedroom apartment.

The custom Italian Kitchen from Marchi Cucine (detailed to make a Chef blush) is adorned with glass door cabinetry, wooden countertops, library ladder to reach precious storage space, a La Cornue stove, Fisher and Paykel refrigerator, and full-height Carrara marble backsplash.

Dark, handcrafted hardwood Italian flooring from Listone Giordano carefully set in herringbone pattern unifies the space.

Throughout the residence, decorative lighting by Apparatus, refinished upholstered club chairs by Silverlace Design, sofa by Bright, lounge chair by Minotti, hand-knotted area rug from ABC Carpet and Home, hand-painted tile from Stone Source, and custom-fitted millwork.

As a finishing touch, the client's astonishingly unparalleled art and and object collection was placed and styled by Menino Carmichael Design Studio.
