Not just another brick in the wall..this family of 3 and their dog enlisted our help to revamp their home and give it a bit of a1970s prog-rock undercurrent. They wanted a splashes of life and fun but also a calming colour palette. It was important that there was enough space to contain both their playfulness and peacefulness. We accented rooms that were more contained with strong and bold patterns, like the powder room and the office. In contrast, we kept the open concept family room, dining and kitchen to a more muted, simpler palette. We still had plenty of fun with a 100" terrazzo bench come hearth running along the fireplace, the rich, rusted metal patina on their range hood cover, rust-toned grout for their backsplash tiles (to create a visual play with the exterior brick) and milky-toned heated concrete floors all through the main floor.
