Here in the rocky mountains of Utah, this modern rustic project has been a collaboration with well-known local singer songwriter, Mindy Gledhill. We initially met at a wreath making class around the time she was beginning the process of building a new home. Encouraged by my husband (who was already a big fan of Mindy's music), I continued to follow up with her over the next year. Finally, I caught up with this busy mother of three and we had our first meeting. The rest, as they say, is history.

We have been working on the Gledhill's home with contractor for the last two years. Many do a double take at first glance when told this is a new build. A crucial element of the design process was the Gledhill's savvy eye for historic buildings. The India colored French doors and the timeworn tongue and groove ceilings are reminiscent of a bygone era of architecture. From its eclectic interior to weathered exterior finishes, this home feels as if it has been nesting on the hillside for years.

Despite the 'Mindy Project' being done, a home like this will never truly be “finished”. The Gledhill's will always be adding something new (or old) to enhance their home. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help design a space in which this young family could create their music, memories, and a peaceful place of refuge from the world.

I hope you enjoy the photos below. I look forward to hearing back from you about the possibility of being featured in Dwell!
