A LEED Platinum Single Family House on the outskirts of Ann Arbor, this 4 bedroom house is under 1800 sf of conditioned space and was completed in 2012.
The house takes its name from the concept of an outer sleeve (in this case, the standing seam metal wrapper) and inner container (in this case, divided into quadrants). These two operate separately, therefore sometimes the inner container pops out and the outer sleeve creates covered exterior spaces. The shape is the iconic 5 sides, with the base of the house propped on a concrete plinth, to help illustrate the object nature of the house as its dropped into the surrounding woodland.
