Our passion lies in testing the limits of traditional architectural methods and investigating fresh perspectives. The proposal we are submitting, "The House of Breathing Stones," demonstrates our creative methodology and dedication to influencing the future built environment while considering the client's needs and context.
The house was designed to accommodate a family of eight, and the 5000 square foot plot comprised five bedrooms, a multipurpose room, public spaces such as a dining, living, and kitchen arena, and an interactive and engaging garden.
- Set amidst lush agricultural fields, this west-facing residence embraces its natural environment with sensitivity and grace. Anchoring the design is a cluster of mature trees, including a stately coconut tree adjacent to the building. These natural elements inspired the concept of a breathable facade, fostering an intimate dialogue between the house and its surroundings.
- The design adheres to the principles of Vastu Shastra, ensuring a harmonious balance of energy and spatial alignment. The house's core feature is a suspended, breathable mezzanine floor, a versatile element that visually connects the living spaces and creates fluidity throughout the home. This feature establishes continuity across the interiors and enhances the spatial experience by inviting light, airflow, and natural views into the heart of the home.
- The material palette was carefully curated to blend with the serene landscape. Marble stone, natural wood, and Kota stone were chosen to complement the simplicity of white walls, which serve as a canvas for thoughtfully curated artworks. Exposed concrete ceilings add a layer of textural contrast, evoking warmth and comfort. The interplay of these materials creates an ambiance that is at once inviting, cozy, and reflective, making the house a serene retreat for the family.
- With nature at its core, the design celebrates openness and intimacy, transforming the residence into a place where architectural elements and natural beauty coexist harmoniously.
