Perched on a 6600 ft. hilltop, this boutique home is done by my father in conjunction with me. Focussed heavily on design, the mountain lodge is made completely of reclaimed wood and the interiors and furnishings, done by my studio [a]nthologie design
Traditional Himachal touches are there in the form of the Bukhari ( Indian Fireplace) and inspiration from Scandinavian and Mid-modern design is apparent.
The decision to move away from the archetypal ethnic look and kitschy design trends is deliberate, as we strongly feel that Indian design is so much more than the quirk.
The house has been built completely from reclaimed and recycled wood like Oak, Cedar and Pine. For this I give credit to my father as this is a cause close to his heart. Sourcing wood from wood shops, lumber yards is a time consuming process. It took him years to source all this wood and we still have tonnes of it lying in storage. His passion for design, furniture and the environment is contagious !
