Located north of Stuttgart, next to the city of Korntal-Münchingen, the Terra Project is planned as a production center, which will consist not only of industrial buildings and offices, but also residential buildings and community spaces.
Aiming to change the dynamics of transportation to work, architect Wolfgang Frey, head of the Terra project, explains the mixture of this Ecopark. "It is an urban project in which ecology and economy come together in an innovative holistic approach based on the needs of modern social life" he told to the german newspaper Süd Deutsche.
The key is in the programmatic approach of the design. Through the settlement on a large plinth of production buildings, which will be located in the basement of the Ecopark, the various stores, services and residential buildings of the workers of the complex will be located.
The structure of this project will be divided vertically into three types of spaces. The lower levels will contain the production halls, which will be arranged in a staggered manner, according to the slope of the terrain. Above them, there will be a two-level commercial plate, on top of which there will be large green areas, equipment, and access to the residential and office buildings, which will form the highest level of the project.
With a view to energy savings and sustainability, Terra Project aims to be self- sufficient, producing energy through photovoltaic panels, which will be integrated into the project as a design element.
