A custom Moots bike hangs on the wall of a glass-fronted office in the middle of Brent Whittington's home in Steamboat Springs. The meticulous work space perched above an open-plan living room, is a grounding place for his business life and an ode to the things he holds dear. Brent, a passionate cyclist and businessman, bought Moots Cycles in 2015 and subsequently built a family home to cement his base in the mountains.

The property was designed and built by Gerber Berend Design Build. The home backs up against a hillside on the edge of a meadow, where wildlife out numbers people. Large boulders from the site frame the tiered entryway to a house, which blends local materials with wood salvaged from fallen trees at the family's original home in Arkansas. A board member for the Nature Conservancy, Brent is passionate about the environment and the home he built with wife Denise, is testament to that.
