Scandinavian inspired renovation of a four bedroom cottage on the shore of Lake Superior in Lutsen, MN.

Inspiration for the design of the cottage was deeply rooted in the Swedish heritage of the area and embraces a peaceful Scandinavian palette to provide a calming environment for retreat.
At the heart of Scandinavian design and culture is the concept of Hygge, with a foundation of experiencing a sense of connection. The design intention was to create peaceful, reflective spaces that embody this connection to the surrounding boreal forest and also a connection to others. The large open plan kitchen, living, and dining room was designed for families to create memories together through conversation, cooking, and gathering by the fire, taking in all the beauty of Lake Superior. The bedrooms are tucked away at the corners of the home to provide cozy spaces for rejuvenation.
