The space within this formerly derelict row house on Harlem’s, Historic Strivers Row was impressive and had much potential even if it had been stripped of all its ornate detailing. Our clients’ program included a main residence (three bedrooms, three and a half bath) and a renters unit at the windowed basement level (two bedrooms, one bath). They wanted to take advantage of the Strivers Row alley and add a carport and a new deck adjacent to the Kitchen.

We planned the main residence for open, comfortable common spaces and ensuite bedrooms. Our clients’ kitchen will be full of light and features such as a central island, a side coffee/toaster station and a breakfast nook overlooking the new deck. The rental unit’s layout is open and bright and the two families will each enjoy the privacy our client requested.
