This project was created by the Architect for his family's use as a weekend home. The site is a heavily wooded property located in northeast Pennsylvania. The structure contains two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living/dining room, kitchen, garage, and studio for the Architect.

As the site is long and narrow with its narrow dimension perpendicular to the road the building's views were oriented parallel with the road. Most of the windows face south where winter sun can warm the spaces and deciduous trees shade them in the summer. A master bedroom suite along with a private studio are located on the second floor and the main living spaces along with a private guest suite are located on the first floor.

The massing uses interlocking forms at various heights that are differentiated by changes in plane and color. As the budget was limited no cellar or attic was provided and the siding was constructed from MDO plywood more commonly used in signage construction. The main living spaces are open and include a focal point fireplace along with a window seat which overlooks the surrounding woods.

The home has a high efficiency gas furnace, spray foam insulation, energy star appliances and cooling equipment, energy efficient lighting, as well as a passive solar design to be environmentally friendly.
