Room of Silence
The curtain serves as a design element to enhance the original shape of the room and to create a feeling of vastness and eternity.
At the same time, the translucent fabric filters light into the space and thus naturally illuminates the room.
The curtains not only serve to separate spaces within the room, but provides retreat as well as a direction to lead the visitors towards light.
In a time of fast pace and distraction, I chose only a few and natural materials to create a pleasant ambience.
An important part of my concept was to not use graphical religious symbolism, in order to create a place that people of different faiths can identify with.
It should be a place of arrival, peace and reflection. A space that gives us the opportunity to recharge, that motivates us to dissolve boundaries, helps us think further and strengthen our sense of belonging.
