The founder and principal designer of Austin’s BANDD DESIGN, Sara Malek Barney, creates interiors that exude warmth, color, and a family-friendly ambience. This new build home displays their ability to balance style and functionality beautifully. It was designed to feel fresh and comfortable and features a one-of-a-kind design language that is serene and timeless. The designers used various prints, bright colors, and interesting textures to create modern, calming interiors.
A slim minimal console with abstract art and minimal wall lights invites you in and gives an idea of the clean-lined design in the rest of the home. The living room is elegantly furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs and a pair of coffee tables. BANDD created an accent wall in this area with a sleek fireplace place, built-in open display shelves, and bright green floral artwork. The reading nook under the stairs is a great example of giving extra space purpose, and the home office/study flaunts dark wood floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and a geometric metal pendant.
The open shelving is carried forward to the kitchen, which features a light palette contrasted with a deep blue island and cabinetry. The earthy-hued counter stools with metal accents complement the glass and gold pendants beautifully. The dining is furnished with a mix of sofa and chairs surrounding a modern wood table, and the design focal point here is the geometric gold pendant.
The bedroom is all about calm, comforting decor with a four-poster bed flanked by artistic mirrors and wooden side tables. The master bath is a fresh oasis of light wood floating cabinetry with a double vanity and oversized gold-rimmed mirrors. When designing the kid’s room, the designers chose a playful, cozy aesthetic that exudes warmth and joy. Design highlights include the shaggy chandelier and pretty pink ceiling with gold floral artwork.
Every part of this home has exciting design accents, like the moody powder room with black and gold wallpaper and the laundry room with indigo-dyed wallpaper. The result is a warm, serene space that’s also cheerful and fun at the same time.
