Richardson House

The Richarson TX house was a modern house that the client wanted to also reflect the Texas character. It was modern in the ways that it functioned and the details to make it very clean and simple, but also had to house a family history of antique furniture that had pieces that dated back to acrossing the US in a covered wagon. The house uses the existing slab but built everything else new. As a design exercise it was an exciting challenge for the exterior foot print was predetermined but plan and workings were changed to meet the clients new modern layout. Said Charlie Hatfield. The house is organized around a great room with the dinning, living, & kitchen. Two spines run off this space that connect you to the bedrooms and garage. The house is in a suburb but is on a hill with nice view looking down on the neighborhood and a wooded creek at the front of the house. Not to have people that drove or walk by be able to look in, most of the side walls are glass overlooking across the side yard and looking over a low fence to get great views but not let people at the street level to look in.
