The Résidence du Parc comes to life in a century-old duplex
located in the Montcalm neighborhood of Québec City. The

architectural intervention engages with elegance and convic-

tion in the original house. The project explores and affirms the

potential of architectural reuse within a practice that is sensitive

to contemporary issues—particularly the importance of urban

renovation in enhancing the quality of our built environment and

promoting carbon footprint reduction.

The striking skylight, perched above the staircase, bathes the

home in soft, generous light, also serving as an organizational

pivot for the house, separating the living spaces from the sleep-

ing quarters of the young family.

This skylight, invisible from the street, has completely trans-

formed what was once a dark home by creating moments of

dancing light that celebrate the changing moods of the day.

The family residence exudes simplicity and warmth, thanks to

the use of local materials that blend seamlessly with the early

20th-century woodwork, which is highlighted throughout the

project. The contemporary interventions are applied with the

precision of acupuncture—bold yet respectful, allowing the soul

of the space to shine through.
