Surfers and entertainers at heart, our clients were ready to expand their home’s footprint and create the kind of dreamy primary suite that feels like an open invitation to head outdoors. Think sun-soaked spaces, clean lines, and an effortlessly laid-back vibe—those were the design non-negotiables.
The addition included a private entrance from the patio into the suite and a spa-like bathroom that made the most of every inch. Bringing in natural light was top of mind throughout—oversized modern barn doors with frosted glass in the walk-in closet and ensuite office offer privacy when needed while letting in that soft, filtered glow. We went with large tilt-and-turn windows to dial up the modern feel and give the space something a little unexpected.
Outside, vertical slat siding gives the new addition a distinctly modern edge that contrasts beautifully with the original cedar shake exterior. Instead of blending old and new into one indistinguishable structure, we let the two styles complement each other. Extending the slat detail to the garage and front door helped tie everything together in a cohesive but intentional way.
