PS Swanky is a Mid-Century Modern, Alexander home located in the serene, affluent neighborhood of Vista Las Palmas in Palm Springs. The home sits on an elevated lot in a secluded cul-de-sac offering extra privacy and extraordinary west and south facing mountain views. The Vista Las Palmas neighborhood is loved for its architectural significance, beautiful views, privacy and convenience to downtown. The home has been luxuriously, but sensitively updated to provide modern conveniences while still showcasing the Mid-Century lifestyle. It is both our family vacation home and a vacation rental home. As such we wanted to design an elegant space with a touch of retro whimsy, all the while comfortable and with modern conveniences and luxurious amenities that we insisted upon and wanted to treat our guests to. The home is filled with both new and vintage, locally curated, as well as designer furnishings, some imported from Europe. The public spaces are designed to be relaxing, elegant and comfortable, while the bedrooms allow guests to select a space that might suit their particular style – like the Pop Art Room, featuring art and décor by Shag, Andy Warhol and Basquiat; or the Hollywood Room, with jeweled bedside pendants, a vintage Hollywood Regency bamboo dresser and banana leaf accents a la the Beverly Hills Hotel. The James Bond room makes a bold statement with Superstar wallpaper and gunmetal accents, while the Master Bedroom is a more serene, spacious retreat. Artwork throughout the home is a collection of period pieces, like Alexander Girard’s Environmental Panel Eyes and Palm Springs Life Magazine Covers to more cheeky prints like an enlarged Frank Sinatra mug shot or the infamous Sideways Glance of Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield. As well, we have numbered prints by Shag and Carrie Graber – some of which feature PS Swanky itself. We are happy to provide more information on exact furnishings and/or information about the updates made to the home.
