For the design of this beautiful family home in Vancouver, the goal for our team was to create a space that felt bright, sophisticated and had a timeless quality. We also wanted to design a home that went beyond trends, one that could grow with their family.
Being a brand new build, the project provided a fresh opportunity to design a West Coast dream home for the clients, one with a stylish, modern-traditional aesthetic.
As fans of layering, we filled each room with thoughtful design elements—particularly in the textures and accents—that look cohesive and effortless. These elements are felt right away as you enter the kitchen, which feels instantly ready for gatherings with family and friends. Among these thoughtful features is the solid white oak wood used on the kitchen island.
Painted cabinets brighten the space, while brass fixtures add a touch of glimmer. The leather, black-painted metal bar chairs are the perfect blend of modern and traditional and feel right at home, blending seamlessly with the quartz countertop.
As you tour the rest of the home, you’ll find plenty more examples of putting a modern twist on traditional design elements. One of our favourites is the beautiful and whimsical Harewood Avington wallpaper—courtesy of Maxwell Fabrics—in the powder room. It's chic and fun but still feels traditional.
Overall, the home truly feels like a West Coast oasis, combining timeless design features with fresh innovations for this young family to grow with and create memories.
