From Joanne Madeo

A Vancouver new build pops in a neighborhood full of post-war homes. This custom home was designed in a modern esthetic to reflect a young couple’s happening lifestyle. The working duo plan to start a family so will have little time for home maintenance. At the top of their list of wants were durable, quality materials that perform. Clad in James Hardie with cedar accents, a metal roof and fibreglass powder-coated windows, this home is set for exceptional longevity.

The interior continues in minimalistic style using large, trimless windows letting all of the natural light in. The bright kitchen has an open concept design connecting it to the dining room and living room. Extra storage was built underneath the fireplace spanning the whole North wall. A lovely feature in the bathrooms are the walk-in showers. No need to step over anything alluding to a much larger space. The U-shaped, open-riser staircase is constructed in solid wood and supported by structural stingers. The result is a stair that allows for minimal visual obstruction and the maximum presence of light. The home supports a basement suite for in-law living or can be used as a mortgage helper if need be. The quality of materials and craftsmanship did not get overlooked here. The suite is a mini version of the living space above. A beautifully planned house big enough for a growing family in an ever densifying city
