From Telluris Architecture

A young family reinvents their 1948 mid-century tract home in suburban Los Angeles by renovating to match their spirit. The goal for the designers, Telluris Architecture, was to provide natural, minimalistic elegance with inspiration from the ancient Japanese Wabi-Sabi, while on a budget. The new design focuses on arched openings, wood accents, and brass finishes to absorb the yellow and orange hues of the abundant Southern California sunlight and drive the sacrosanct feel of a treasured home for a young family. A complete gut-job, the load bearing walls in the main portion of the home were removed to create an open plan for reinforcing the minimal and bright concept.
