Ole Hanson’s fingerprint is left on many of the homes in the small town of San Clemente, California. His historically prevalent designs typically feature white stucco exteriors, brown trim, and clay tile roofs and this home is no exception. With respect to the design, but a need for a modern updated feel, we paired encaustic tiles and arched doorways with white cabinets and an open space plan. This duplex allowed us to design the spaces independent from one another, while still keeping it respectful of Ole’s original vision.
