Next Life: Repurposed by Design is a public space project that takes the remnants of the 2019 Street Seats installation, created by students from Parsons School of Design/The New School University, and translates it for the Moore-Jackson Community Garden in Woodside Queens for the use of the community. The original installation, photos included, was a school project located on East 13th St. near 5th Ave. in the heart of Greenwich Village. The work responds to the Covid 19 pandemic by providing opportunities for social distancing while gathering, and respects ADA guidelines.
Our intention was to constructively reuse the materials, with the participation of garden stakeholders, to design a space for public benefit.
About us: we are 2 faculty members of Parsons School of Design, we are architects, and we believe in gardens.
