Architectural designer Kseniia Silanteva has breathed new life into the Mile End Community Project (MCP), a well-loved creative hub in London that has supported the Tower Hamlets community since 1995 with innovative social, educational, and artistic programs.
Kseniia’s architectural redesign prioritizes vibrant, adaptable spaces to inspire creativity among children, particularly in filmmaking. The new layout incorporates multifunctional spaces equipped with transformable furniture and ample storage, allowing for seamless adaptability between activities.
From an architectural perspective, the redesign ensures durability and safety by using fireproof, acoustically sound, and long-lasting materials. Additionally, Kseniia has introduced a carefully planned lighting scheme and heating appliances, optimizing insulation and energy efficiency for year-round comfort.
The centerpiece of the project is a bright, welcoming bathroom where children can collaborate with artists to create unique wall designs, blending functionality with artistic expression.
As part of the redevelopment, Mile End is seeking collaborations with suppliers willing to contribute to the project through donations, helping to bring this inspiring vision to life.
