Creating a holiday home for a well-travelled couple could become a challenge, especially if they are greatly inspired by their escapades. But what helped Suvidha Gandhi in this process for her clients from Delhi, was the fact that they have a house in London and hence are comfortable with that vibe.
An English country style was decided upon and Suvidha added some architectural elements like cornices and POP mouldings to create the canvas for the perfect ambience. She wanted to create a warm and cosy character for the home and this was successfully brought about through the natural material, antique and vintage accessories, traditional English floral prints and the classic furniture pieces that the couple have collected over the years.
The use of muted pastel colours like pale pink, soft blue, and sage green perfectly accentuates the style, since they mirror the colours of the blooming flowers and lush greenery of the English countryside. The home is decorated in soft and natural shades that have a comforting feel. Also, the use of white and cream-coloured accents brightens up the spaces.
The home is dotted with varied textures and material like wood, rattan, wicker, terracotta and stone. Reflective of a typical English manor, one would find floral patterns in various textiles for upholstery, bedlinen, curtains, etc. that are layered to add the depth to the spaces complete with the table lamps, chandeliers, wall scones and the quintessential paintings adorning the walls.
Every turn of the home is a trip to the quiet and stylish environs of a country manor. With a soft touch of various design elements, Suvidha has managed to give her clients a piece of England in the sunny sands of Goa.
