My husband and I bought this fixer 10 years ago, with a dream and a vision attached. Over the past year, we finally got to see that vision through. We cleaned up a bizarre maze of a floorplan, added a room and a hallway, so we no longer have to walk through a room to get to the primary bedroom and bath. Now, the house is designed to enjoy the soaring views from entrance to exit, and the modern simplicity allows the views of the surrounding Tahoe National Forrest to be the focus. We have literally watched an osprey fly past our deck with a fish in its talons, and it's not uncommon to see bald eagles soaring by, riding the local updrafts from the valley below. I, Brooke, and my husband Paul Stone, did the remodel as owner/builders, and we hired a couple of outstanding local carpenters to help us pull the whole project together.

The remodel with designed by (myself) Brooke Stone, Brookestone Kitchens & Design, a small one-person entity, primarily working by word of mouth only, while also working as a private practice Marriage and Family Therapist, with a focus on the healing of development trauma. Since the remodel was always for the purpose of pulling the potential out of the house, it is currently on the market by Mimi Simmons, Century 21 Cornerstone, in Nevada City, 530-265-7940.
