From F. Breton

Seduced by this magnificent plateau nestled at more than 1495 meters above sea level, it is in Crans-Montana that this family decided to establish their family refuge. They fell under the spell of an apartment offering generous volumes and located on the top floor of a residence built at the end of the 1980s.

While retaining the initial structure, interior designer Florent Breton decided to reinterpret the classic Alpine repertoire such as beams and paneling through an offbeat style inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Sandblasted, burned or heated, the different wood species offer a unique and harmonious visual balance.

At the heart of this renovated space, the fireplace becomes the central element around which the living room, the dining room and the reading area are structured. The choice of ceramic evokes kachelofen, a traditional stove popular in German-speaking Switzerland. The brick red and light gray hues of the material create a subtle contrast between modernity and tradition.

Certain pieces of furniture were created to measure in collaboration with local craftsmen, including the bookcase which rises elegantly facing the fireplace and creates an architectural link between floor and ceiling.

Paying homage to Japanese culture from which he constantly draws inspiration for the Le36, the interior designer demonstrates a distinctive attention to detail. The flooring in the main room is reminiscent of the Kintsugi technique, which consists of repairing the cracks in a vase with gold thread, thus playing with the sun's rays. In the rooms, he uses the art of katagami to subtly draw a mountain line as well as animals nestling discreetly above the doors. Finally, it integrates the artistic dimension of Akari in the choice of lighting fixtures to enhance the light.

As part of the Le36 project, the interior designer succeeds in playing with traditional Alpine codes to create a haven of serenity where each detail tells a story and where each element testifies to the harmonious marriage between Japanese aesthetics and the charm of Swiss Alps.
