[La Reserve] is a project that is born from the slope in search of the view towards the sea. It is located on a hillside in a little mountain of the city of Tamarindo, in Santa Cruz of Guanacaste. An area highly known for its tourist attractions within which are surfing, good gastronomy, and its proximity to protected areas. The orientation of the project is specifically aligned towards the Las Baulas National Marine Park.

Due to the slope of the land, we designed a structural framework that´s repeated several times in a linear way to the sides, generating modules that are connected by two corridors, the dry internal corridor and the wet external one. The damp connection connects the rooms with the bar and pool area. All the main rooms of the house have as a focal point the sea and must avoid obstructions, the service areas were placed on the back being at the same time, volumes that function as structural buttresses.

The concept of the project was born from a study of the vernacular houses of the Guanacaste hacienda, from which design guidelines were obtained that were used in within which some of the are the use of internal patios, corridors or external corridors, cross ventilation, large eaves, and the use of baseboards.

It was also considered the abrupt change that the vegetation of the area suffers from dry season to rainy season, so the color palette of the project was a challenge since it is wanted that the project looks good in both seasons, always trying to affect as little as possible as it is perceived within its natural context.

As a last aspect, it should be noted that the design of the internal space was in collaboration with the owners who wanted to give the project a pinch of elegance and proposed to incorporate elements related to art that hand in hand with natural light, Guanacaste tree wood and concrete floors, converge to generate an elegant atmosphere, natural and tropical.
