This rural new build, located near Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, was built after the clients’ old home on the same property was struck by lightning and destroyed. This unfortunate circumstance led to a unique opportunity: Building an entirely custom, Net-Zero house.

The single storey floor plan consists of a Great Room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and laundry and mechanical facilities. The home’s unique double-wall assembly allows space for huge amounts of insulation between stud walls, for an insulation value of R60.

The home is completely powered by electricity, and PV solar panels collect energy on the southern sloped roof and the detached garage and workshop.
