A Dialogue Between Nature, Materiality, and Geometry: Jindal’s Residence
Set within the evolving masterplan of Jindal’s Global City (Sonipat)—a township shaped by modular construction and future-forward planning—this residence began as a prefabricated shell, uniform and restrained. Our design approach was to reimagine this structural starting point and transforming it by adding architectural volumes and spatial articulations to establish a contemporary identity.
Designed for a highly influential client, the home was envisioned not merely as a place to live, but as a gentle retreat from the rhythm of urban life. The architecture responds to this vision with clarity and calm—inviting nature inward, softening the boundaries between built form and landscape, and offering a continuous dialogue between openness and enclosure. It is a residence that speaks not through excess, but through considered simplicity, balance, and a profound respect for its surroundings.
The architectural elevation of the residence embodies a quiet strength— where simplicity gains depth through balance, material richness, and light. Rather than standing out through ornament or excess, the façade reveals its character through proportion and restraint. Solid planes and recessed voids interplay to enhance horizontality, while added volumes soften the rigidity of the original structure.
Natural materials—warm wood, honest concrete, and neutral-toned cladding—anchor the building with a grounded yet refined presence. Generous glazing opens the home to the garden, deepening its connection to the outdoors. A sculptural V-column supports the extended canopy, while deep overhangs and horizontal lines create a sense of calm and quiet shelter. This is a façade that doesn’t demand attention—it reveals itself slowly, shaped by light, shadow, and the rhythms of time.
Concrete and textured stone define circulation paths that dissolve into softscape, blurring the boundary between architecture and terrain without visual interruption. Along the path, a measured rhythm of inverted U-shaped aluminium structures punctuates the walkway, subtly guiding movement and framing views. A custom circular seating element in exposed concrete, centered around a recessed fire pit, anchors the space. Behind it, a dense strip of native and adaptive planting frames the seating area visually and separates it spatially from its surroundings. The composition embraces organic curves and tactile materials, crafting a landscape where architecture and nature move in quiet synchrony.
A double-height volume reveals itself upon entry, quietly establishing spatial clarity and vertical openness. The material palette remains understated—exposed concrete, warm wood, and finishes that echo natural textures. Glazing is used generously throughout, framing views of the surrounding landscape and reinforcing a constant connection to nature. Selective use of furnishings, artwork, and lighting introduces measured contrast, creating a balanced interplay between architectural form and interior expression. The result is a space where material honesty and curated detail coexist, allowing the architecture to remain central while gently shaped by its surroundings.
