The Izaak Reich Glassworks was created in an area with a centuries-old glassmaking tradition, surrounded by forests. It is a project that combines the heritage of the glassmaking masters from Staré Huty with a modern sense of craft, authenticity and storytelling.
“We’re not just making glass. We’re trying to capture the true essence of places, people, and stories. I believe that every glass can hold an imprint of the land, a memory, or an emotion,” says Adam Havlíček, founder of the brand.
Reviving craft with meaning
The Izaak Reich glassworks continues a legacy dating back over 150 years. Working exclusively with lead-free Czech crystal, the company creates each piece in close collaboration with designers, glassblowers, winemakers and storytellers. All of these individuals are united by a shared pursuit: to uncover and express the true essence of what glass can contain.
“Things today are often made quickly and without meaning. We believe in time, care, and purpose. A piece of glass should not only look beautiful, but it should also make you feel something,” adds Havlíček.
Handcrafted with soul – from tasting to timeless design
The brand specializes in hand-blown crystal collections that unite functional precision with striking visual identity. Its portfolio features wine glasses designed in collaboration with top winemakers and designers, as well as carafes, tasting sets, and limited editions inspired by stories, people, and places. Every product is an attempt to translate experience into form, whether it holds wine, water, or a moment worth remembering.
Collections with a story – from linden trees to Bordeaux
Every Izaak Reich collection is inspired by a real story. The Linden Collection, designed by renowned Czech sculptor and designer Rony Plesl, draws from the legend of a centuries-old linden tree said to grow where the original glassworks once stood — planted, as the story goes, by Izaak Reich himself.
“The linden, a monumental tree that has witnessed the disappearance of the old glassworks, became the symbol of the new one — and my greatest inspiration. Its leaf shapes appear throughout the Linden Collection, fusing the beauty and geometry of nature with the lightness and elegance of hand-blown crystal,” says Rony Plesl.
This year, the brand also introduces the much-anticipated La Gironde Collection, created in collaboration with internationally acclaimed winemaker Guillaume Thienpont. Inspired by the rivers and winemaking traditions of Bordeaux, the collection captures the essence of place, time, and tradition.
A place where stories take shape
Named after the legendary local craftsman and founder of a famous glassmaking dynasty, the Izaak Reich Glassworks revives the legacy of the ancient masters. The result is a brand that combines authentic craftsmanship with contemporary design, showcasing a deep respect for storytelling.
The new Izaak Reich Glassworks is located in Zikmundov in Staré Hutě, just a few hundred meters from the original site, but still on the very ground where glass was blown as early as the 18th century. Today, sand melts here again, flames flicker, and new stories are shaped with every breath into the pipe.
But at the heart of it all is the human element, both the maker and the one who holds the glass.
“We don’t just sell glass. We tell stories through it,” concludes Adam Havlíček.
