GRAND LAKE COTTAGE

Credits

From RHAD Architects

The cottage has been designed to be an escape from the city home, with a decidedly simple, relaxed feel. The exterior resembles a boat or lake house like those we've seen dotting the historic Shubenacadie Canal system where it finds itself. It has a simple box form and a low-pitched roof with overhangs blurring the line between indoors and out.

The cottage has two components, the Boat House and the Main House. The Main House is also divided into two compartments, the main cottage space, and a guest house. The main space is an open plan with a loft bedroom suite on the second floor. The guest house “box” comes with its own private bathroom, which can be closed off from the open concept plan for visitors’ privacy.
