This loft interior was conceived around a single architectural gesture: a floating staircase that slices through the space like a sculptural line of tension.
In collaboration with US-based manufacturer Viewrail, we set out to explore how a staircase—typically a structural necessity—can become the centerpiece of a minimalist, open-plan living concept. Rather than placing it passively along a wall, we let it define the room: suspended oak treads, a hidden mono-stringer, and frameless glass railings form an object that is as much furniture as it is infrastructure.
The goal was not realism for realism’s sake, but emotional realism—capturing the stillness of morning light on natural wood, the diffuse glow through glass, the weightlessness of a form that’s deeply engineered yet feels effortless.
Created entirely in CGI, this space exists only digitally. But its materiality and mood are grounded in reality. The tension between visibility and invisibility, mass and lightness, gives the stair presence without dominance. It invites movement, but also contemplation.
This project is part of an ongoing exploration at Danthree Studio: How can digital architecture evoke physical emotion?
