When designing a home in Malibu, Michael Manheim and Janus Cercone of JAMAN PROPERTIES wanted to reimagine what modern luxury could look like. Perched high above Pacific Coast Highway, the newly built three-bedroom home has expansive walls of glass that overlook the ocean and pier as well as skylights that allow plenty of natural light to stream into the home. "We love skylights and incorporate them in all of our homes," says Janus. "They provide natural light—and there’s no substitute for that—but also, they connect the inhabitants even further to the outside."

From brand-new Douglas fir and 70-year-old pine in the great room to a massive amethyst geode sink in the guest bathroom, the home is accentuated with one-of-a-kind touches that give it a sophisticated and modern aesthetic. The master suite comes with a fireplace, a bathroom with book-matched Panda marble and a two-person soaking tub, and disappearing pocket doors that face the ocean.

"What makes this estate special is its direct connection to the sun and the sea," says Janus. "Every room but one has head-on views of the Pacific and we’ve provided every opportunity for indoor-outdoor living." There’s an indoor chef’s kitchen and an outdoor kitchen with a wood-burning pizza oven; an indoor bar and an outdoor bar; an indoor shower and an outdoor shower; and an indoor great room and an outdoor entertaining area with double fire pits and an infinity swimming pool.

Situated on just under an acre, the property features meandering pathways and private meditation gardens. There’s even a tiki treehouse hidden among the treetops where residents can practice yoga, read a script, or take a power nap. Surrounded by paparazzi-proof, fenced-in meditation gardens and capable of hosting up to 100 people, the house is perfect for celebrities and VIPs who crave some much-needed privacy.
