From Rodney Durso

The original house, an A_frame, was built in the 70's and fell into disrepair and then default by the mid-90's. When I bought it in 2009, it was a total junker and was in foreclosure. I partnered with my friend and colleague, Carlo Enzo, also a teacher at Parsons (where I was an Adjunct at the time), and we collaborated on the project over the course of a year or so. He and I shared a deep sense of modern design, but he brought that extra sense of Italian flair that it needed.

The project had many challenges, including the small lot size and a steeeply graded property. In the end I believe we achieved something very special. Although the square footage is only about 1,110sq ft. the house has a very airy, bright and open feel -- combined with a cozy familiarity that all my guests seem to love.

BELOW: Photos of current house, below that are original pre-rehab photos. At the bottom are a few construction photos as well.
