The Custer Contemporary Net Zero Home was carefully designed and built to minimize power needed, maximize comfort, require very little maintenance, and provide exceptional indoor air quality. As part of the Next Step Pilot project sponsored by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) the home has 28 sensors continuously monitoring indoor & outdoor temperature, indoor & outdoor relative humidity, VOC’s, and water temps/flow rates. By monitoring and analyzing all this data we are able to see that even in the coldest winter months this house can keep its occupants safe and comfortable while disconnected from the grid for an extended period of time.
