From Rosemary Fivian Architect Inc

Inspired by the work of Tezuka Architects, our firm designed this house around a simple concept-Corner House. The views are at the corners, there are corner windows, cut out corners at the fireplace, and triangular tiles at the front entry that hint at the concept for the project. Just looking around at the architecture, the floor plans, the details, and by walking through the home one can see and understand the concept expressed in a myriad of conditions and experiences.

What we love about the work of Tezuka Architects is that the concepts for their homes are simple. House to Catch the Sky, Horizon House, Floating Roof House, and Cloister House all use architecure to express these simple ideas. It is site driven architecture at it’s best and this is what we strive for as a firm. The ability to see the big picture and how the details and craftsmanship contribute to the final resolution are skills we have learned over a long career.

The home has exceeded our expectations and tough local requirements, earning a final HERS score of 15! We used a palette of natural materials such as stone and wood and paid close attention to the sustainability of all the products we selected. The lighting design was thoughtfully planned and fixture selections were chosen working with local suppliers. A green roof connects and separates private outdoors spaces.

Views were carefully considered and windows were places in every room to frame views of the Flatirons and Mount Sanitas and provide privacy. Anglular roof forms point to the views and floor to ceiling windows, one of our signature design standards, bring the outdoors in.

An attached ADU or Accessory Dwelling Unit provides flexibility and additional living space or rental income.
