This 1,802-sf lofted-apartment in Miami, Florida is designed by the husband-and-wife design duo of Brett and Giselle Sugerman of B+G Design. The award-winning Interior Designers remodeled their new residence into a uniquely cosmopolitan feel distinguishing it from Floridian style interiors.
The aesthetic is a minimalist approach with a mix of contemporary furnishings in an elegant color palette of matte black, white French style moldings and natural tones. The mood evokes a sensual sophistication taking inspiration from their travels.
Apart from the shell of the staircase, the designers stripped the original apartment. They created a modern entry foyer with LED lighting that welcomes you in. Choosing an interior style that is not often associated in Miami, they gutted the standard kitchen and partnered with Studio Snaidero Hollywood to design a custom matte-black kitchen that plays a major part in the design narrative.
The kitchen is fully equipped with the state-of-the art appliances and fourteen-foot island in book matched Paonazzetto Black marble by Opustone. To the right of the foyer, they added an expansive pantry in a matching finish that looks and feels like velvet to the touch. A breakfast closet beautifully opens to reveal chrome metal shelves displaying an espresso bar. Underneath the nook of the stairway, they designed a custom low-cabinet bar. Off the kitchen, the powder room features Dornbracht fixtures and a pendant light by Lee Broom. Kreon lighting is seen throughout.
The central statement in the dining room is an impactful piece by Massimo Listri, adding the perfect contrast to the black B&B Italia dining table; this layout returns to the concept of traditional dining. The two-story grand room, washed in natural light feels like a private study. A Minotti sofa faces the custom built-in, which offers storage space under the marble ledge. The window frames were painted black which blend in at night creating the illusion that the living room continues past the balcony. Hanging above is an impactful light fixture that perfectly balances the living room while not interrupting the views. Off the kitchen, a cozy guest room doubles as a family room and office.
The glass paneled staircase leads into the bedroom sanctuary that overlooks the living room. Continuing the monochromatic color palette, they added softer elements throughout like a light-toned curtain that electronically closes offering more privacy. B+G Design’s custom canopy four-post bed floats away from the mirrored wardrobe closet, centered in the room, making this the focal element of the space. A custom vanity with stone top and mirror doubles as a desk.
The master bath features Kohler fixtures and a gray mirrored closet. Its long layout was used to create a separate area for the commode, hidden toward the back for privacy. A petite vanity area including a bar is tucked behind the gray glass shower with direct views to the city’s skyline.
The balcony, which offers impressive views, features a B&B Italia outdoor dining table and two chaise lounges creating an area for guests to relax.
