The screened porch is a private oasis conceived as an outdoor room. The vaulted ceiling space with a grill/kitchen area focuses on a view of the coastal pine forest. Smooth, vertical cedar siding (instead of lap siding) clad the walls and signal this as a transitional indoor/outdoor room. Ipe decking provides durable flooring for this primary entertaining space. The Knoll Saarinen table and chairs, an original production George Nelson Slat Bench for Herman Miller, Minka Aire Roto fans and directional sconce lighting from WAC make this a favorite spot for dining and lounging year round.

The stair treads and risers are clad in the same white oak plank as the floor. The custom designed and locally fabricated steel stair railing is topped with a white oak handrail. Contrasting acoustic wood slat wall at the stair (concealing the laundry room) balcony and master bedroom entry provide material contrast to the smooth gypsum walls.

Northeast facing view of Draper Lake allows early morning light through kitchen windows and a view of the deer feeding just beyond the rock retaining wall. Built on the Emerald Coast's famous sugar white quartzite sand, the reinforced concrete foundation with structural tie downs assures a sturdy framework to withstand the mighty Gulf Coast hurricanes. In addition to Iron Ore, trim colors include SW 7674 Peppercorn and SW 7019 Gauntlet Gray

New Orleans Chef/Editor expats Michael Sichel and Lisa Tudor collaborated with Architect Eric Watson to create a house with spaces that showcase their notable collection of mid century furnishings. Located on the Gulf side of Florida's Scenic Hwy 30A, the residence reflects the unique character of its wooded hilltop location above a coastal dune lake. Draper Lake Coastal Village was designed in 2003 by town planners Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk (DPZ) with architectural regulations that emphasize a style reminiscent of American forested lakefront homes of the early 20th Century. Standing sentry above the Timpoochee Trail, the bold, dark dwelling contrasts with the surrounding landscape in one of Florida's hottest real estate and vacation rental markets.
