Architecture Concept

Creating possible dialogues between tradition and contemporaneity, simplicity and sophistication, ARCHITECTS OFFICE conceives the Casa PAR - a countryside home designed to revive the collective memory of dwelling, intertwined with the present times at Haras Larissa, in São Paulo State.

The Casa PAR explores the traditional concept of "Country House" - spacious areas integrated with nature, the use of materials, and architectural vernacular languages - materializing essential signs for a current experience but with ecological elements, such as: the gabled roof, a revival of the classic aesthetics of the countryside house, takes center stage as it employs contemporary and sustainable materials even in its traditional form, while arranged ornamentally, inspired by the structures of stables and stud farms; rusticity is curated through high-quality natural and ecological materials; the palette unveils the primary shelter with neutral colors, promoting a sense of calm and belonging; lighting is strategically planned to enhance the beauty of materials and create welcoming environments of light and shadow for well-being.

The concept delves into the minutiae of pure and simple form, valuing simplicity to stimulate sophistication, present in elements that materialize proportion, harmony, and human scale - such as windows, carpentry, and meticulously designed objects for a detailed simplicity experience. In two volumes integrated into the rural surroundings, the Casa PAR revisits the architectural identity rooted in emotional memory focused on aesthetics and contemporary uses for LAR Identidade company.

Architecture

Located at Haras Larissa property in the countryside of São Paulo State, the Casa PAR covers an area of 574 sqm on a 2188 sqm land.

The house consists of two elevated and staggered volumes: the social volume, with 231 sqm, that extends over the plot; and the intimate volume, with 182 sqm, set back in relation to the other, with gabled roofs of different heights in engineered wood – a revival of one of the most traditional architectural roof solutions, but here with a new proposal, along with external Pinus shingle tiles. The Casa PAR presents a work that aims to be effective by balancing cost and techniques, prioritizing the use of wood in the roof. Engineered wood combined with OSB wood panels (ecological material produced from waste) is employed. Along with a thermal protection layer, it provides environmental comfort, creating a more pleasant and intimate atmosphere.

The front facade is marked by the rhythm of setbacks and advances in the house, varying roof heights, and a graphic visual - whether through the choice of cladding or the louvered pediments of the roof (inspired by stables and stud farms), which ensure permanent natural lighting and ventilation.

The main entrance is through the social block, entering the hall that organizes the other rooms of the house - a powder room; a support area with laundry, bathroom, and bedroom; and a living space with a view of the external area.

In the living area, the spacious double-height space is interconnected with the kitchen and the terrace covered by sliding doors, creating a unique and fluid atmosphere between the exterior and interior. The ceiling takes center stage, revealing the intricacies of the gabled roof made of Eucalyptus engineered wood MLC, a prefabricated ecological solution with a distinctive identity. The rural landscape of Haras Larissa is framed by white metal frames that separate the living area and the terrace - a contemporary element contrasting with the use of natural materials and finishes such as stone and wood. In the living area, a sculpted staircase provides access to the 76 sqm internal mezzanine, along with a terrace, featuring a low ceiling with access to an external balcony through sliding doors. Illumination is provided by the louvered engineered wood pediment.

The main hall also provides access to the intimate block through a robust wooden door symbolizing the separation of the two volumes of the house. Upon entering, the circulation to the four suites and master suite is illuminated by natural light from openings in the wooden roof - marking the passage of time within the habitat.

The concept of the Casa PAR intertwines the simple and the sophisticated, traditional and contemporary, balancing two universes to tell the narrative of the current countryside house. The architecture provokes this coexistence, and the curation of materials reaffirms it - the social wing features cold coverings like stone and metal, while the intimate wing features warm coverings like wood. Natural materials have been meticulously crafted to promote a sense of calm, serenity, and belonging.

In the outdoor area, the house is surrounded by wooden decks and concrete steps for access to each of the suite openings, living area, kitchen, and others, along with a 44 sqm swimming pool.

The Casa PAR is inspired by the countryside and designed for contemporary living, aiming to value traditional architecture with uses and materials of today's daily life.

Production

To convey the unique narrative of the Casa PAR - a countryside home where architecture revives the collective memory of dwelling, intertwined with the contemporary - AO embarked on the production of audiovisual materials, with dedicated Art Direction.
In collaboration with a curated selection of partners and suppliers, Pair Home - Concept Store and the designers from Estúdio Rain were enlisted to fill the house with objects that portray the dichotomy between vernacular and contemporary.
Pair Home brings the Marjani bicolor vase with 2 handles, size G, and the Cora sculpture, both handmade objects that emphasize proportion and human scale, traditional manual craftsmanship, inviting the observer to connect with the organic beauty of nature and explore the senses. Estúdio Rain, an important partner in tailor-made productions and creations, inhabits the house with a dichotomous piece - the curved bench - which has straight lines at its base and transforms into an organic design at the top. A skillful embodiment of harmony between two languages, something inherent to the concept of the Casa PAR.
