The design for this grand living room was inspired by art galleries. The homeowners wanted to use this long, narrow (29 by 13 feet) space to entertain as many as ten people at a time while keeping an easy traffic flow and access to the open dining room.
Staying with the gallery theme, oversized art was installed as a focal point. The grand fireplace is not centered, so a fifteen-foot custom sofa was incorporated along the wall to balance it. Simple built-in floating wood benches create additional seating next to the fireplace and in the bay window for a place to relax and read a good book. Wood adds warmth to the predominately neutral and cool space.
Round leather swivel chairs and curved coffee tables soften the sharp boxy lines of the fireplace and the room. Curves create more space and allow ease of navigation around the space.
Color through furniture and accessories add even more visual interest to this grand living room.
