From Tropical Modern Design Love

Avant Design reimagined the interiors of this five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence at Jade Signature in Sunny Isles Beach for a young couple and their two children. Serving as a beachfront vacation home and place to entertain for the entire family, the layout of the 3,412 interior square feet was re-envisioned to fit their needs, as well as answer their discerning taste for design with top brands from Minotti to Ornare used throughout.

Pulling the greens from the oceanfront and rich landscaping by Raymond Jungles on the property, the overall design was set to integrate with nature. “Tons of green was used to seamlessly transition from the beach views to the home to give the sensation of coasting along the ocean,” says Avant Design President and Principal Designer Cristina Souza.

A monochromatic green was used in the kitchen with Ornare cabinets. “We wanted to break away from the all-white kitchens to lend character, serenity and once again tying into the overall theme of nature, all while providing high quality products throughout,” says Souza.

The interior was designed to entertain, having friends come over to petit comité, or events to watch sports and celebrate parties. Modern and comfortable furniture from Minotti, Artefacto and Fendi among others, was carefully selected to let the ocean be the main focus overall.

For the layout, the first challenge was the kitchen, moving it from being the first focal point to aligning with the outdoor kitchen on the west side of the unit. They also wanted to upgrade the bathrooms to be modern and functional. The resulting bathrooms created were in-sync from the minute one steps foot onto the first section of the floor.

“We aspire to have one style where the design, materials, faucets, shower head, toilet and sinks all come together to give off the best experience. An elegant atmosphere was attained because we have all pieces that flows seamlessly into the space, giving way to a beautiful, almost artistic arrangement,” says Souza.

“The very best fixtures need to be sought, as they’re one of the significant factors in making a bathroom come across as luxurious. Having a high-quality products are things that can set an ordinary bathroom apart from the extraordinary.” The designers selected Fantini from Waterbox, a high-design and quality product they believe stands above and beyond other options on the market.

There is also thoughtful attention to the artwork selected. Starting with a conversation piece at the foyer by Abraham Palatnik, a Brazilian artist and inventor whose innovations include kinechromatic art, the work is embraced by a wood panel and a nine-foot-wide sliding door, which when open, brings the foyer into the dining room. The other important artist is Eduardo Sued from Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian painter, engraver and draftsman. The artist is not linked to any specific movement, though his career has taken a brief step based on figurativism, but soon it goes towards geometric abstraction. It tends to be classified today as "concretist" or "constructivist". The dress in the acrylic box is by Lesley Dill, an American artist whose work probes the power that language has on individuals and society; the art is a mixed-media paper collage.

“We were so excited to be able to work on a project design that could show sophistication with the level of luxury we dream to give to our clients,” says Souza.
