An apartment in the attic of a 19th century tenement house on Foksal Street, the space adapted by the developer during the revitalization and expansion of the building turned out to be very unusual, far from the image of interiors in old tenements. A complicated floor plan, slanted ceilings, a large variety of windows - all this looked interesting but was also a considerable design challenge.
The owners dreamed of a bright interior with an open living space and a separate sleeping and utility area.
From the very beginning we knew that we would want to iluminate the space, using skylights in the hall and opening to the roof on which the terrace is located.
The skylights have been finished with mirrors and wavy steel panels so that from the entrance they give the impression of opening to the clear sky.
In the design of the staircase we also took care of light and lightness by using perforated steel that like a lace filters sunlight, illuminating the focal point of the apartment - a round table with distinctive Bold Chair chairs in composition with a sun-filled painting by Pawel Wasowski.
In the complicated layout of the apartment, with its tangle of bevels and nooks, we focused on simplicity and charter. We also used contrast in colors, materials and forms.
In the bright space, the cubic forms of the island and simple kitchen furniture, finished in stone, wood and ceramics, stand out strongly.
In the living room, located under the slants, we decided to break the angular forms by reaching for soft shapes of furniture structural fabrics and distinctive color accents.
The bedroom and night zone, is a tranquil oasis of rest, the bedroom and dressing room drowned in warm colors of linen and walnut.
A two-zone master bathroom with a separate shower area and a bath room with a round minimalist bathtub.
