This is one of a double project, two apartments overlooking the Mediterranean, for two Belgian sisters. They had inherited their apartment, which was built over 40 years ago and had never been changed since. Both wanted more space and more daylight, and a bigger kitchen. On top of that, this particular apartment needed to be adapted for the disabled daughter, who is able to come and stay with friends and use the apartment independently. We gutted the apartment completely and changed the layout in order to make better use of the available 70 m2.

We designed a better layout for the master bedroom and bathroom replacing the bathtub with a walk-in shower. The bed is a spectacular fusion of sleeping space and wardrobe, fully custom-made by our star carpenter. The daughter’s bedroom has been completely adapted to her needs, and her bathroom is now fully functional for her, with supports wherever necessary, a spatious shower and useful sink.

The kitchen, which used to be a dark small space, is now a fairly large and open space, with a half-island that connects it with the living room. DOCA units guarantee quality and style, and are combined with custom made wooden elements. The entire apartment now has both underfloor heating and air conditioning, and has been installed with noise insulation to prevent noise from neighbouring apartments but also top of the range double glazing which cuts out the noise from the roaring sea at times of Tramontana storms.
